Youth Sports Leagues
in Las Vegas
Verified organizations across every sport — soccer, baseball, basketball, swimming, flag football, gymnastics, and more.
Las Vegas has a surprisingly deep youth sports ecosystem — recreational city leagues, well-established independent programs, and competitive clubs that produce athletes competing regionally and nationally. But finding the right fit for your kid is harder than it should be. This guide covers verified organizations across seven sports, organized by type, with real registration details and honest descriptions of what each program is actually like.
Every organization listed here has been verified as active and operating in the Las Vegas valley. If we could not confirm an organization was current, we left it out.

Soccer
Las Vegas Youth Soccer League (LVYSL)
One of the most established recreational youth soccer leagues in Las Vegas, LVYSL has been running fall seasons for years. Age groups range from U5 (the "Mini Heroes," ages 3–4) through U13 (the "Strikers"). It runs one season per year — fall only — which keeps the commitment manageable for busy families. Registration is online only, and spots fill once July opens. A solid first league for kids who have never played before.
Southern Nevada Soccer Association (SNSA)
Founded in 2001, SNSA is the largest soccer organization in Southern Nevada with over 6,500 annual participants. It covers two distinct audiences: recreational players through Henderson United, Southern Highlands United, and Mini Kickers leagues; and competitive players through LV Heat Surf (formerly Heat FC), their competitive club program. If your child has outgrown recreational and wants to compete at a higher level, Heat Surf is the natural next step and is well-regarded in the region. SNSA also runs a licensed coaching staff and referee development programs.
City of Las Vegas — Vegas Bourne Soccer League
The City of Las Vegas Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs department runs the Vegas Bourne Soccer League as part of its broader youth sports program. Administered under NAYS (National Alliance for Youth Sports) standards, it emphasizes inclusion and teamwork for kids ages 3–14. Practices are at All American Park; games are held at the Bettye Wilson West Soccer Complex. As a city program, fees tend to be lower than private leagues. Check the city registration portal for the current season.
Baseball & Softball
City of Las Vegas Youth Baseball and Softball
The City of Las Vegas offers both youth baseball and softball through its Parks & Recreation department, with divisions structured for different skill levels: T-ball for the youngest players, Coach Pitch for the middle group, and Kid Pitch for older kids. Games are held at Veterans Memorial Fields and Doc Romeo Park. Run by community volunteers under NAYS standards, it is focused squarely on fun, skill-building, and keeping the commitment manageable for younger families.
Henderson Little League
Henderson Little League is a chartered Little League program serving the Henderson area. The 2026 spring season includes tryouts in early January, team parent meetings in February, picture day, and opening day in March. It follows the standard Little League structure with a Mid-Season Classic in April. Like all Little League programs it is community-run, parent-volunteer-driven, and focuses on developing fundamentals and sportsmanship in a structured setting.
City of Henderson Youth Baseball and Softball
Henderson Parks & Recreation runs youth baseball and softball leagues at city parks throughout Henderson. Teams are allowed to practice twice per week before the first game, then once per week after play begins, with practice limited to 90 minutes. It is a city-managed, volunteer-coached recreational program that covers both baseball and softball. Registration and schedules are available through the Henderson online registration portal.
Basketball
City of Henderson Youth Basketball
Henderson's youth basketball program is designed for children 5 and older and is built around balanced teams, positive coaching, and teaching fundamentals in an inclusive environment. Registration opens in late September and runs through early November online or in person at any Henderson recreation center. The season begins in December. It is one of the most accessible and affordable basketball programs in the valley — no tryouts, no cuts, and run by the city.
National Youth Sports Nevada (NYS Nevada)
National Youth Sports Nevada operates youth basketball leagues in the Las Vegas area through the LeagueApps platform. They also run flag football and other youth sports programs. Registration is managed online and programs are available across the valley. Check their LeagueApps portal for current season openings and age group availability.
Swimming
Desert Storm Swimming (DSS)
Founded in 2000, Desert Storm Swimming is a nonprofit year-round competitive swim team serving the entire Las Vegas metro area. They range from novice swimmers to elite competitors, ages 5 to 18. Workouts are held at the Las Vegas Municipal Pool — a 50-meter by 25-yard Olympic-sized indoor pool. DSS is affiliated with USA Swimming and competes in local, state, regional, and super-regional meets across Nevada and Southern California. Tryouts are open Mondays and Wednesdays at 4pm — no appointment needed.
YMCA of Southern Nevada — Swim Lessons
The YMCA of Southern Nevada offers swim lessons starting at six months, a swim team, and swim camp through their aquatics programs at three valley locations. The Y's swim program follows a structured progression from water comfort to technique to competitive readiness. Member families get priority registration and discounted rates. Non-members can still register for most programs. The Y is well-suited for beginners and swimmers who want instruction before joining a competitive team.
Flag Football
Vegas NFL Flag (Vegas Sports Foundation)
Vegas NFL Flag is operated by Vegas Sports Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and runs official NFL Youth Flag Football for kids ages 5–14. With over 1,000 participants annually, it is the largest organized flag football program in the Las Vegas valley and is open to boys and girls at all levels of play. Games are played at All American Park on the west side. The NFL Flag format is non-contact, rules-consistent, and familiar to kids who watch football — making it an easy entry point for families new to the sport.
i9 Sports Las Vegas — Flag Football
i9 Sports offers flag football alongside soccer, basketball, baseball, and multi-sport programs at multiple Las Vegas valley locations. The i9 model is designed for convenience — one-hour sessions, no tryouts, no season-long commitment pressure, and a focus on fun over competition. It is a strong option for younger kids (ages 3–6) who are trying a sport for the first time, or for families who want flexibility across multiple sports rather than committing to one league.
Gymnastics
Vegas Gymnastics Academy
Vegas Gymnastics Academy has been recognized as Best of Las Vegas for gymnastics. Their facility includes dedicated preschool spaces, a pro shop, and locker rooms for team-level athletes. They offer recreational classes starting with preschoolers all the way through nationally ranked competitive teams. The academy uses the Jackrabbit registration platform — parents can register and manage classes online. A solid option if you want a facility that can grow with your child from beginner to competitive. Phone: (702) 259-5020.
Brown's Gymnastics
Brown's Gymnastics is a locally-operated Las Vegas gymnastics gym offering recreational classes for youth. They emphasize community involvement and family-focused programming. Contact them directly for current class availability, age breakdowns, and pricing — their schedule and offerings can change by session.
Multi-Sport Programs
YMCA of Southern Nevada — Youth Sports
The YMCA of Southern Nevada offers fee-based youth sports leagues in basketball, baseball, soccer, martial arts, gymnastics, dance, and more — all at three valley locations. Members also get access to included group exercise classes like Y Kids Play, yoga, and circuit training. The Y is one of the only places in Las Vegas where a single family membership provides access to multiple sports across one organization. Strong fit for families who want variety or are not ready to commit to a single sport.
i9 Sports Las Vegas
i9 Sports operates youth leagues in flag football, soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, multi-sport, and Nike Kids Camp at multiple Las Vegas locations. Their model is built around convenience for busy families: no long-term contracts, one-hour sessions on weekends, and an emphasis on age-appropriate instruction over scoreboard competition. i9 Sports is the easiest entry point for kids ages 3–5 trying their first organized sport, and works well for families who want to sample different sports before committing to a single league.
How to Choose the Right Program
Recreational vs. Competitive
For most kids under 8, recreational is the right starting point — no tryouts, balanced teams, and the emphasis is on having fun and learning basics. Competitive programs (club soccer, swim teams, select baseball) expect more commitment: year-round practice, weekend travel, and real tryout selection. The jump from rec to competitive is a meaningful one — cost goes up, time goes up, and so does the pressure. Most coaches suggest letting kids play two or three rec seasons before making that call.
Cost Considerations
City programs (City of Las Vegas, City of Henderson) are consistently the most affordable — often $50–$120 per season. YMCA programs sit in the middle, with membership reducing per-program costs. Private leagues (LVYSL, i9 Sports, Henderson Little League) run $75–$200 per season depending on what's included. Competitive clubs (LV Heat Surf, Desert Storm Swimming) are in a different bracket — expect monthly fees plus tournament entry and travel costs. Equipment adds up too: cleats, a glove, a helmet, a swimsuit for a team — budget accordingly.
Location and Commute
Las Vegas is spread out. A program that requires two practices and a game weekend per week on the opposite side of the valley adds up fast. City programs tend to keep games close to home — Henderson leagues stay in Henderson, City of Las Vegas programs use city parks. i9 Sports and YMCA have multiple locations specifically to reduce drive time. For competitive clubs, commute is often unavoidable — evaluate whether you're ready for that before signing up.
Starting Age
Most recreational programs accept kids starting at 3–4 years old (T-ball, mini soccer, multi-sport). For swimming, the YMCA accepts children from 6 months for water comfort lessons. Competitive programs typically start accepting players from age 6–8, though the commitment level at those young ages remains light. If you're not sure your child is ready for a structured league, i9 Sports at ages 3–5 is a low-pressure way to try it before committing to a full season elsewhere.
The Las Vegas Heat Factor
Outdoor fall leagues (soccer, flag football, baseball) that start in late August and September mean early morning or evening games are essential. City programs account for this and typically schedule outdoor games in the cooler parts of the day. If you are registering your child for a fall outdoor league, confirm practice and game times before signing up — 10am baseball in September is brutal. Indoor options (gymnastics, swimming, YMCA programs) sidestep the heat entirely.
School Sports — CCSD Middle and High School
Once your child reaches middle school (typically 6th grade), Clark County School District (CCSD) opens up another major avenue: school-based athletics. CCSD is one of the largest school districts in the country, and its sports programs are well-funded and competitive.
