Seven Magic Mountains
Seven neon-painted boulder towers rising from the Mojave desert — a free, surreal art installation 25 minutes south of Las Vegas. Confirmed through at least May 2027.
Seven Magic Mountains is an internationally recognized land art installation by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, located just south of Las Vegas on I-15 near Jean, Nevada. Seven towers of neon-painted boulders — some stacked 35 feet high — rise dramatically from the Mojave desert floor, creating a surreal and unforgettable visual contrast against the vast landscape. Originally a temporary installation planned for two years, it proved so popular that it has been extended multiple times. As of 2026, it is confirmed to remain at its current location through at least May 2027. The installation is free to visit and open daily from sunrise to sunset. Restrooms and a small parking area are available on site. In 2025, a mysterious monolith of unknown origin was installed nearby, adding to the quirky atmosphere. This is one of the most Instagram-worthy stops in Nevada and a genuine crowd-pleaser for all ages.
Pro Tips
Drive south on I-15, take the Jean/Sloan exit, then follow signs. The parking area is right off the highway — you can see the towers from the car. Bring water — there is no shade. Takes about 20-30 minutes to walk around and photograph. Combine with a quick stop at the Primm outlet mall nearby for a longer outing.
Best Time to Visit
Golden hour (early morning or evening) for the best photos. Midday in summer gets very hot — bring water. The neon colors pop most in bright sunlight.
